What are the home decor trends that will shape 2019? We are delighted to have another informative post from Chloe Taylor, who shares her insight into answering this question about decor trends, which happens to align with our last topic that we posted on color. Please read Chloe’s full bio at the end of the post.
Interior designers widely agree that 2019 could be the year to turn design upside-down. With leaving minimalistic trends in the past and coming out with bald, extraordinary accents, 2019 might be the moment for a design revolution. Following trends this year could be a tough challenge, but not if you are well prepared for what’s about to skyrocket through home & décor.
Colorful Details
Mainstream minimalism is coming to an end, taking pastel colors on a black and white foundation with it. With plain, neutral colors out of the way, colorful details are emerging to the scene. Hits of the season are to be luxury green and aquamarine. These colors add to a more natural interior look, and with the right lighting and details could make your home bloom with life. Color-rich plants with unusual flowers can only spice this design up.
The pairing of blue and green is one of Casart Coverings’ favorite combinations, as seen in our bright floral (trendy now but timeless) Flower Power.
We’ve enjoyed using a deep aquamarine that we call “Van Gogh blue” in our © Asia Blossom design. It subtly crosses between blue and green.
Print Experimenting
Combining different prints has become a science of its own. In order to find just the right combination, you need to experiment A LOT. Start with small details, such as cushions or picture frames. Adding a printed detail to a plain colored furniture piece can be a good idea to start with. After you’ve mastered the detail combination task, you can take on a more challenging experiment. The ultimate level can be mastering a combination of different wallpaper prints. Wallpapers are coming back with a boom, so make sure to do a thorough search before you decide to add them to your room.
The pairing of wallpaper should complement artwork used on the wall. Using Casart Asia Blossom featured above, you’ll see how well this design works below with artwork, which can be framed or printed on Gallery Wrap Canvas as in this Chinoiserie design.
Terrazzo Covers
Soon enough you will be seeing terrazzo everywhere. Whether you are in search of a coffee table, a side table or tiles for your bathroom – you will find terrazzo. Some designers predict terrazzo to be the no 1. hit décor of the season. Terrazzo ads to a vintage, yet modern look of any room you incorporate it with. It will make every room artsy and refreshing.
Stylish Bed Frames
The most important thing right after comfort is the styling of your bed. The bed is in most cases a focal piece of the furniture in a room, which is why you want it to look top-notch. Choosing a bed can be difficult enough without having to choose a bed frame, too. If you are short on space but in search of comfort, the queen bed frame is the perfect choice. Custom made upholstered frames are sure to be trending this season.
Casart Coverings loves that our customer used a Custom Khatacross wallcovering design from the MoRockAnSoul Collection to highlight a stylish bed frame with an accent wall. The design and the way it is featured adds interest and sets the tone for the room. The rustic bed design paired with the Moroccan pattern also fits into the Boho chic category described below.
Brass Detailing
Brass is putting stainless steel and polished nickel aside in 2019. Detailing done in brass gives a surprisingly warm and subtle feeling compared to other metal décor. The trick with brass is to know the limits because it can easily become overdone. If the room is fully furnished with brass-accented case good and upholstery pieces, then this can be a slight overkill. Don’t stash the room with brass table legs, chair legs, and mirror frames, but be careful not to exaggerate. Too much of a good thing can be bad, as well.
A Modern Boho Twist
With curvy lines escalating to the top and vintage details becoming modern again, bohemian chic is fitting right in. Boho is coming back with a twist of layering and bright patterns. Softer lines, a modern vintage vibe and a curved furnishing are expected to revive boho and place it right to the top of home design in 2019. You can’t miss by combining floral and paisley patterns with ethnic and tribal prints. Put in some geometrical shapes and you’ll have a boho decorated room to wish for.
Light Wood Floors
Homeowners are getting more and more tired of wide, fluffy carpets that easily get dusty, stained or ruined. In search of a more convenient setting, light wood floors are coming back to the top lists of interior design. There is also a growing desire for a more airy and open look that these floors can provide. In lighter beachy and oak shades wooden floors reflect more light, adding instantaneously to a more luxuries look of your home.
It looks like 2019 might really make a revolutionary design year. Everything we were used to is being replaced with something new or something old. Minimalism is plummeting and leaving room for a surge in experimental maximalism. So, don’t be afraid to experiment with interior design this year. Get out of your comfort zone and turn your home into something completely unexpected and new.
