The article gives extensive professional insight into current and emerging interior design trends — which ones will last and which ones won’t.
Minuca posed the question to 40 design industry experts, “Which emerging interior design trends do you think are temporary fads and which ones do you believe will have a lasting impact?” It is very interesting to see similar and opposing, thoughtful points of view.
The Most Mentioned Design Trend
The most mentioned design trend is one that we seem to have forgotten that has always been there, surrounding us and perhaps under-appreciated — it’s all about nature. The Biophilic Design trend is about bringing nature indoors where we can continue to enjoy it. We’ve written extensively about this concept on Slipcovers for your Walls, casartblog but we are ecstatic to see others voice a similar viewpoint.
We mention it as #7 in this quote:
7. Biophilic Design – Bringing nature indoors with plants and greenery sparks interest and joy in an interior space. It also recalls lessons learned from the pandemic; the world is larger than just our own enclave, and getting outdoors should be more appreciated. We see this design trend lasting, especially as the world becomes more high-tech with AI. Getting back to nature gives us peace of mind and forces us to stop, reflect, enjoy, and relax, while living in the moment.
Another Design Trend Mentioned
We’re also excited about the “decorative storytelling,” trend, our #6 mention, since we have been working on new designs with this effort in mind.
