We love it when our customers find inventive ways to use our wallcovering!
Tortoiseshell is one of our most popular designs! We’re happy to see it used in an unexpected way, as a cabinet of tortoiseshell, displaying a wonderful coastal collection or how interior designer Chad Gracie uses Casart Faux Tortoiseshell repositionable wallpaper on the ceiling!
Our customer, Linda Creedon, of Pegasus Interiors, decided to use the Natural Faux Tortoiseshell 1 to cover a recessed area to make a lovely display case.
Here’s what she had to say about the installation process:
My husband and I had to remove shelf brackets and prep the walls. Once done it was a matter of deciding which piece to install first; your you tube video was very helpful and we put the back panel in first adding extra to the width. Then came the side panels, the bottom and top were last. It was so easy to pull off the paper and then reset it in a better location, smoothing out [any air pockets] as we went.I posted the finished picture on my Facebook page and will add it to my website.
Looks like actual inlaid tortoiseshell!
She wanted to, “dress up this niche in my dining room with Casart tortoiseshell paper to further expand on the rococo motif then added antique shutters to finish the vignette.”
Thanks for sharing, Linda! We think it came out very nicely and creates a “cabinet of curiosities” so to speak, much like you might see in Dutch paintings, as the culture then collected items for lavish display. The “sea turtle” oriented Faux Tortoiseshell design highlights Linda’s collection from the sea, with seashell candlesticks and coral theme.
We even have some of our own sea / turtle designs to complement. This design benefits ongoing Gulf Coast Recovery efforts.
We love sea shells too!
Although no longer available, our Seashell Panels from the Coastal Collection can upgrade any door.
We also used this Faux Tortoiseshell design to decorate screens. Beyond walls, furniture and accessories are also transformed with tortoiseshell.
