Although July 4th Independence Day has past, we’ve found ways to celebrate summer with American Style all year long.
It is worth noting that there is not just one American Style, however. American Style is simply a characteristic associated with the United States. Since The United States is a “melting pot,” mixture of many people with multiple backgrounds and ancestral heritage, this can mean a lot of different things for what American style should be. Americans do have common cultural values, namely: freedom; independence and self-reliance; patriotism and equal opportunity to live the American Dream to achieve a better standard of living with liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
These values are so eloquently stated by our Founding Fathers in the Declaration of Independence, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
American style is your freedom to express yourself in your home as you wish. For instance, if you love plants, use them as a focal point, or if you live in Miami, play up your location with a tropical punch style.
An easy and interesting way to express your interests while adding noticeable color in red, white and blue is to arrange your books in color blocks.
Patriotic style can certainly be achieved with flourishes that incorporate traditional red, white and blue, American flag colors.
Hints of red can be used in a cozy family / TV room, something that we are all using a lot of these days.
