We are announcing our new aesthetic vision of China with a new mural on Casart Coverings reusable wallcovering. Even while the country China is in the news of late, we are happy to say that our new design has nothing to do with politics or negative press. Instead, our introduction is just coincidentally timed with our unvealing of a new spring design.
We first started our Scenoiserie Collection in 2016, of which our China design is a part, as a series of landscape murals that can enhance interiors with vibrancy and interest. These designs currently consist of our East Asia, Asia Blossom and Chinoiserie sub-collections. We’ve added our China design to expand on the East Asia series, which also includes Japan.
We wanted a classic style with a modern interpretation of China. We drew from landscapes that are iconic to the Chinese topograpy without adding kitch or the completely expected. There is no Great Wall because we want viewers to be pulled in without barriers. We wanted a dreamy, mystical panorama created by a composite of travel scenes. We chose aquatic gardens, a Buddah temple and lanterns, a hilltop pagoda above a winding river set among the sculptural landscape of tiered hills and misty mountains. OK, we added a panda — if you can spot him — simply because they are too precious not to include.
We rendered the mural in an elegant etching, in both black and white and colorized versions. Once digitized, this aesthetic vision of China can be customized to other colors and even custom printed in reverse to create an interesting mirror-mural image once installed, as seen below.
The China mural can be combined with other designs in the Scenoiserie Collection, such as our Asia Blossom or mixed with other Wallfinishes. No custom printing is needed in this scenario because Casart repositionable wallpaper can be applied on top of itself and still be removeable and reusable.
