I saw some interesting photos of stair risers that seemed to have a step up in design in last Sunday’s InsideOut section of the Times-Picayune.
Editor Karen Taylor Gist had this to say about them. “Few of us get to design and build perfectly personalized homes. But if we try, most of us can find in our houses some small spot to imbue with a little piece of ourselves – out taste, our sense of whimsy or our architectural preferences. Residents of the homes pictured here have, um, risen to that challenge, in one way or another, taking their front steps from the mundane to the magnificent.”
And by far, the most free-spirited, all-out example:
You may recall Lindsey did a post on stairs recently. When I was in Tunisia I took several pictures of stair risers covered in tiles. These certainly gives stairs a step up in style.
This seems to be a popular basic design with varying trim. The two above were taken in different villages. Here’s another Tunisian stair riser tile design.
Of course, the beauty of using a Casart Faux Tile removable wallcovering is that you can change the design as often as you like thereby eliminating the expense of chipping out the old tiles, repairing and re-tiling.
