A new coastal idea or should I say a new “postal” idea? We’re trying something new. We’re inviting readers to submit guest blog posts. We’d like to start collecting so we can feature this regularly. The content would have to be interior design related of course but if you know of a product or service that benefits a resident then please let us know so we can give it the shout-out it deserves. The Internet these days is all about awareness and sharing information, so we hope you’ll be engaged, contact us and join us for this exciting opportunity.
Meanwhile, we’re going coastal with this post. I couldn’t help but notice that Pottery Barn and many other catalogs and magazines lately have featured coastal designs with interior shell and coral accents.

I really like how Katja Presnal, of Skimbaco Home and Lifestyle has these classic coastal design ideas all in one place. This is a great blog for “modern moms on the go.” Even the name symbolically represents living life to the fullest as in skimba (slang in Finnish for skiing) and CO is for Colorado — meaning taking the opportunity to do what you would expect and want to do to live in the moment.

Of course if you really want quintessential coastal design, check out Coastal Living magazine and our previous post on Completely Coastal, Two great resources. Sara Peterson, the editor of Coastal Living, shares her top five design secrets in the June issue. Number one is slipcovers and not only for furniture. They keep the style casual and low maintenance and make it easy to change the look seasonally. We at Casart Coverings, wholeheartedly like this concept!

Decorology has beautiful photos of coastal getaways if you just want a visual escape.

And txranchgirl has a nice ideabook video on her Houzz page and Jennifer Sergent of DC by Design has a fabulous Bethany Beach renovation post that features a modern take on beach style. I’m really taken with the tile stair risers.
We’ve had this coastal concept in mind for quite some time with our tromp l’oeil, faux-plaster shells and starfish removable wallcovering. I’ve always been drawn the the peaceful, serene nature of the sea and carefree, beach-living style and bringing elements of Nature inside. Our shell elements make this easy. These are offered individually or as faux door panels (great for cabinets or to dress up a door). Heck, we can even make a wallpaper design with these elements. I’m working on one now….as well as faux glass tiles…

With summer nearly around the corner and all these mentions of coast-style living, maybe a vacation is in order? In the meantime, today is a good day to spend with family or friends doing something all American to remember the many troops who sacrificed for our country on this Memorial Day.
