Picking up the June issue of Elle Decor, my eye stopped my hand at sight of the bright colors on the cover. I immediately associated them with Mary Douglas Drysdale’s Signature Colors which we have just introduced at Casart Coverings…bright, vibrant, true colors! Mary says, “The colors I selected to use in my venture with Casart Coverings are colors which I have used in my project work, and which have become associated with my name. You might say they represent my favorite colors.” Is that French Blue on the chairs? Are those cubes covered in Oushak Orange and Jefferson Yellow? And that throw looks a lot like Federal Green.

Here’s our “true Federal Color” below from a screen capture from our website. Oddly, some of the pictures that we run directly though WordPress, our blog platform, change color and there’s no way to change that except insert other types of pictures like this one for true colors. Wow, what a difference!

Winsome (love that name) Brown, a Canadian actress and writer, and her husband, Claude Arpels (yes, the Arpels family of Van Cleef & Arpels) tasked architect Lee Mindel, of Shelton, Mindel & Associates, to make room for thought and imagination in their Tribeca loft they share with their two daughters.

Brown wanted it to function like an art gallery so that objects could be movable. It also had to be indestructible to accommodate the liveliness of the children. Mendel explains that the Italian sectional sofas are like trampolines and the bright-yellow and orange felt cubes resemble playground blocks. The palette is sophisticated primary and the furniture reflects the youthfulness of the family. The furniture can be moved around for hosting kids, dramatists, dancers and art exhibitions.
Sliding doors off the master bedroom and the children’s bedroom provide privacy. The master bedroom is serene in shades of white walls, blond floors, pale blue area rug and gray drapes but the eye is drawn to the bright multi-colored Hermes throw on the bed.

All in all, a very lively space with true colors which affords livable, functional space for a multi-talented active young family’s creativity to shine.
