This style is for you but which one? Traditional? Modern? Country? Eclectic? Glamorous? Casual? Romantic? What’s the best style?
It’s Yours, but don’t expect that to remain static as in a vacuum. Our likes and dislikes change along with us as we go through life. Think of your home as an on-going process that can be constantly added to or subtracted from. It should evolve over a period of time; not be finished in a blink.
The 2011 January issue of Home is a special issue on staging to sell or to keep. The introduction states that “for some people, infusing a home with individual style comes as naturally as breathing. For others, sifting through a dizzying array of paints, fabrics, furnishings and fixtures can overwhelm their attempts to find their own visual voice.” The trick is to consider the character of your home. Learn to accept but minimize your home’s limitations. You can’t fill a cottage with heavy antiques and expect it to suddenly look like a mansion. However, “seasonal designers and people with a sure sense of style mix and match furnishings and accents of different styles and eras to keep traditional setting from feeling staid or contemporary spaces from feeling arid.”
The editors have provided a style quiz to help readers determine theirs. Questions include:
Which colors are you comfortable living with? All shades of blue.

What look do you prefer for a bed? Simple, monogrammed. And that headboard is a piece of Casart blue faux linen applied directly to the glass of a wooden frame and hung on the wall.

What’s your idea of a great evening spent with friends? A simple dinner party with good atmosphere and good food. Nothing fancy!
Which types of upholstery and drapery fabrics usually catch your eye? Fortuny, of course!
A room accessory you might choose is? A piece of modern art.

Your personal style is best summed up as? Sometimes dreamy, always thoughtful, glass-half-full (or is it half-empty?) outlook.
I took a style quiz that corresponded to one of 7 styles and I scored a tie between traditional and glamorous. Don’t know how that happened. My style is definitely traditional. 😉
