Oh the botheration of blogging, so why do I blog? My daughters dragged me, kicking and screaming, to the world of blogging with utterances of “I’m too old,” “I don’t know how” and “You know how computers hate me!” It didn’t work. So, here I am on a Thursday evening with not a clue as to a subject for tomorrow’s post. Then, I had a light bulb moment…why not write about someone who has been successful in design blogging? That could serve as inspiration for me as well as others. Naturally, the first person that came to mind is Jennifer Boles. Hers is a dream-come-true story.
Marcia Sherrill interviewed Jennifer for 1stdibs’ Introspective Blogosphere. The introduction to the interview acknowledges that if you had searched for the meaning of the word blog as recently as a decade ago, the results would have been Blois, France followed by bloke. Blogs were first used mainly as a political tool, but have become a personal and professional tool.
Jennifer grew up surrounded by her parents’ collections of American antiques and Chinese export porcelain which nurtured her early interest in art. It was further encouraged during her years on the beautiful Oxford-style campus of Sewanee (University of the South, and my daughter Ashley’s Alma Mata). Jennifer loved so many facets of design that she was undecided which one to pursue until she learned about a political blog and got the idea to write a blog about design. With the technology of the Internet along with her eye for design and her talent for writing, she quickly became a known personality. Today her blog, The Peak of Chic, is a “must read” for anyone with an interest in design.
While it began as a vehicle to record her thoughts about design, it opened the door to meet others of like mind. Now Jennifer is the Southeast Contributing Editor for House Beautiful in addition to blogging daily!
My goodness, I could use some of her energy! Okay, I promise I’ll never complain about blogging for Slipcovers for Your Walls again. Plus, it is a good vehicle for letting others know about Casart Coverings.

I can really relate to this post. I think a lot of bloggers can.
