It comes every year but what does Memorial Day mean?
A long weekend, the end of school, the beginning of summer vacations, picnics, no mail delivery, concerts, fireworks…all things we associate with Memorial Day. But what is really the significance of this federal holiday which is observed on the last Monday in May?
Originally known as Decoration Day, it commemorates men and women who died while in military service to the United States. First enacted to honor Union and Confederate soldiers following theCivil War, it has been extended to honor Americans who have died in all wars.
Many Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries and memorials. Another tradition is to fly the American flag at half-mast from dawn until noon. American flags are placed on tombs in military cemeteries throughout the world during Memorial Day weekend. Our American tradition includes an obligation to honor the ultimate sacrifices made by our nation to earn and protect our freedom. It is also an opportunity to show our pride in our country and for being Americans with all the rights, privileges, and freedom that entails. We, at Casart Coverings are proud to say that our product is American made in the USA!
Here’s a link to some of our Patriotic wallcovering designs. They are removable and reusable — very practical.
