It’s a mad cap on coastal themes with Hurricane Irene going coastal (up the NE) and so are we featuring coastal design — if I can can get this post written before a possible power outage. It’s a race against heavy winds and storm surges just miles away….I hope whatever damage Irene leaves in her wake it will be minimal for us all and the Outer Banks, where we were due to leave for our vacation, will still be waiting.
In the meantime, after all your prep and post cleanup, you can sit back now and enjoy these coastal images that may bring peace of mind in the wake of Hurricane Irene. Be sure to sign up for our newsletter to receive even more coastal design ideas. We’ll send it out next week.
We’ve been following Focal Point blog by stylist Lynda Quintero-Davids for a while. We love her style and her stuff on Houzz as well. In fact, she’s all over the net on Pinterest (we’ve just signed up) and many other social design networks such as Olioboard. She’s a NY stylists (hence NYC LQ) based now in Miami. I see hints of both Northern Metropolitan and Southern Hip aspects. Here are just a few of her clever ideas for seashell styling — have starfish, vases and bottles, then you have instant chic coastal style.
Lynda (NYCLQ) and six other contemporary bloggers were just featured on Olioboard for their coastal contributions. Check them all out here on Focal Point.
If you’re still missing the beach (an maybe literally — if you’ve looked out your window and it’s no longer there), then go to Shorely Chic, Liz Orgera’s blog. She shows some stunning outdoor and “under decorated beachy interiors” featured from the newly remodeled Dunmore Hotel by designer Amanda Lindroth. Many more coastal scenes can also be seen in Coastal Living, one of our favorite take-me-away magazines. Ahhh….I can just feel that cool, clean, coastal breeze….wishing I was there, as we were supposed to be today.
Finally, if you really want to get away, go to India with John & Jason of John Loeke and Jason Nixon, Mad Cap Cottage interior design fame and Demystifying Design. They happened to get their getaway mural with a custom, designer, removable and yes, reusable, Casart wallcovering.

Casart really does “add Oomph” to their walls, Mad Cap stated. Click this link to read the full post and better yet, click this next link for their get your rig a rocking in preparation for hurricane Irene — the New Orleans way (to which I can relate). This can be a post prep celebration as well.
Cheers to coastal and other getaways!
