While thumbing through a magazine I saw an advertisement for a lovely Macassar Ebony vanity and I thought Casart’s Zebrawood could be used there and look great, too. But, would I use it on a vanity? Speaking of wood, the entire April issue of House Beautiful is devoted to wood. There’s an article about more than fifteen types of woods, many of which were unfamiliar to me. There was even one, Paulownia, which had been mixed with hemp to create a wallpaper with a chevron pattern. The Paulownia type grows in China and Japan and has been used there for footwear, musical instruments and even Karate breaking boards. Fascinating!

Too often we limit ourselves by thinking of using wood in the traditional ways like furniture, cabinets an floorcovering, so here are a few more of our “woods” to get you thinking out of the box on where to use wood in your interior design!

And to use wood with some out-of-the-ordinary colors!

So put on your thinking caps and get those creative juices flowing! Got any ideas you want to share on how you would have use wood?
