Add the Unexpected to Your Spring Bouquet

Thinking of Easter flowers, there was a cleverly conceived, simple bouquet of yellow roses and Custom Yellow Casart wallcovering adorning all the tables at the Antiques in Alexandria luncheon. All tables were filled with attendees to listen to Mary Douglas Drysdale give a wonderful lecture on her design process involving homes with antiques and how to marry old with new. She used her Signature Colors for Casart coverings in all her headings, including her Lipstick Plus that was used for her designer room at the show.

I’ve asked Laura Francis, the creative force behind Floral Presentations, who arranged all the flowers, to provide the steps, so you too can add something new and different and unexpected to your spring bouquet. She went beyond the call of duty to really document and take great pictures too. Enjoy and know you have yet another way to use your Casart! *

Step #1 – Cut the Casart Wallpaper into a rough size for your planned shape. Make certain to keep the backing paper on the wallcovering.

Step #2 – These shapes are intended to look like a large leaf. We drew the outline shape, cut that out and then “feathered” the outside edge of the “leaf” to add dimension.

Step #3 — Complete the final cutting of the shape you have planned. Our large leaf is cut out (These leaves are approximately 15″ long X 5″ wide). Use the first leaf to cut out the reverse shape of a second leaf.

Step #4 — Separate the wall covering from the backing paper.

Steps #5 & # 6 Add floral wire to the adhesive side of the leaf. Join the second leaf over the floral wire on the backside of the first leaf, so that both sides have Casart wallcovering showing. This is the front side of the wire reinforced cut leaf.
