At High Point last fall we saw lots of butterflies; framed, fabric, wallpaper, on pillows and just about everywhere we looked. But will that trend continue? With spring right around the corner, it just might.
In a Houzz ideabook, Samantha Schoech said, “Now, I am no predictor of trends, but if I were, I’d stake my claim on butterflies as the next fauna to make it big. They are easy to silhouette; they’re pretty; they’re colorful, and they’re feminine without being too girly.”
We made our own prediction recently in a post titled Is It Spring Already?
If you’re looking for framed butterflies, you should be able to find what you want at Butterfly Designs.

Here’s just one example of a pillow design.

This 9 foot in diameter Lladro Niagra Chandelier, made of more than 300 recycled porcelain butterflies suspended on fiber optic filament, gives it the appearance of flying high, as does the price tag!

Tuesday was an absolutely perfect Mardi Gras; warm and sunny. Rex introduced the first signature permanent float addition to his parade since 1985-The Butterfly King, which first appeared on the 1881 Rex invitation. The metamorphosis of the butterfly with its brief but colorful life are fitting metaphors for Carnival. In the opening of his 1931 book The Mistick Krewe, writer Perry Young wrote, “Carnival is a butterfly of winter whose last mad flight of Mardi Gras forever ends his glory. Another season is the glory of another butterfly, and the tattered, scattered fragments of rainbow wings are in turn the record of his day.” It took a year to design and build the float which has animated head, eyes, arms and wings operated by people pulling and controlling the system of levers.

Here’s a link to a source for adding butterfly wallpapers such as the one below to your desktop.

But, if you are interested in the kind of wallpaper that goes on walls, may we suggest some of our butterfly design wallcoverings. Our butterflies are free to fly away if you want then reappear again, another day, perhaps even in another space.
