Sprucing Up Your Space With What You Have

Laura Gaskill presented a terrific ideabook on Houzz last week.  So I’m sharing with you about sprucing up your space.

Speaking of Houzz, we just learned that Casart has been selected by the Houzz community as a winner of their 2013 “Best of Houzz” awards!  We won in the “Customer Satisfaction” category. This award is based on a variety of factors including ratings and reviews by Houzz’s 11 milion monthly users.

Nebraska-based designer, Jessica McKay, painted the “ugly paneling” in the family room but the paint wasn’t covering the grooves.  “We left the grooves white and it looks like the walls are pinstripes,” says Jessica.  You can read more of her suggestion in Country Almanac’s Small Room Decorating and on Jessica’s blog, Coop.

While updating a galley kitchen in a condo and on a tight budget, I kept the cabinets, painted the natural wood a light cream, changed the fixtures and put a string of LED on top.  The space definitely looked brighter and larger.
