Are you wearing masquerading in anticipation of Mardi Gras tomorrow? If not, you might want to but you might also want to get your silhouette on too! According to Traditional Home‘s latest February/ March issue, silhouette design is the New + Next great thing. Who knew? We’re happy to hear this as we’ve just launched new silhouette designs by Edward Doyle Designs with his Euro Chic Collection, for our Casart Coverings Décor pillows.

How cool is this? This Royal Dachshund Design makes “going to the dogs” take on a different meaning. These cuddly mini-hounds give a modern feel to a classic look.

And what about these cute little kids? Does anyone remember these types of silhouettes as illustrations in books when you were a kid — besides me? They also recall the ever popular Book of Virtues that really helped to expound upon The Rules of Civility (quite unlike the popular, current book that is) but also why Civility Rules. I loved these books and we played them on tape for our children for their messages of moral examples they gave.

Our “kids” look so similar it’s uncanny, but Edward Doyle Designs has added his own Euro Chic panache. We love these Silhouettes Tasting and Singing in the Rain designs.

This pillow slipcover, makes you feel so good that you just want to go Singing in the Rain, without getting wet — but IT CAN because it’s worry free fabric for outdoor and indoor use! Remember this classic Gene Kelly movie? Makes you just yearn for a more innocent, less complicated era. These pillows remind us of that feeling.
What about silhouettes used for more graphic punch? Well, they aren’t new, remember. They’ve been used in classical design for decoration for centuries. Wedgewood has always harkened back to ancient Grecian urns. It never goes out of style.

The chair “portraits” above show that where the silhouettes are removed and singled-out from their context, they take on a modern, updated ambiance. Where their scale is increased and used in a pattern, they add graphic elation to their decorative purpose, as in this upholstered chair. We like that Edward Doyle Designs’ Euro Chic Collection also uses pattern and singular enhancement to make a visual impact, as seen in Folk Art from the Parish Posh designs and the Single Crown from the Royal Chic designs.

Finally, circling back to Mardi Gras, you should check out our many other Euro Chic Designs because with Casart Coverings Décor you can be a Queen or King for more than just one day with our pillow slipcovers, and you can also have Cupids all year round.
Hope you have a Happy Mardi Gras and Valentines’ Day!
