Elizabeth Mayhew, contributing editor for NBC’s Today Show and author of FLIP for Decorating, tells a funny story in the Washington Post about Al Roker’s dislike of pillows. She wondered if this was true of most men and began collecting feedback from other men. The results-Mayhew concluded men generally are not as fond of pillows as women. I agree with her conclusion and have my own theory as to why that may be so.
I sometimes think men are uncomfortable with pillows because they don’t know what to do with them. It’s almost as if they view the pillow as either too feminine and frilly or simply as invading their personal “space”.
We’ve found a solution at Casart. We’ve tried to consider the male psyche by offering our pillows with the option of either down or poly fill, which allows the man to be in control of that decision making (although we know to the contrary). Our all weather pillows can be used on outdoor seating for the ladies while the man of the house is in charge of important matters like the grill! And lastly, our Euro Chic Pillows offer some historical, old-world designs that any man should feel comfortable using.

Here are some tips for the ladies to remember about the male mind when convincing men that a decorative pillow is a good thing.
· Looks aren’t enough to keep the male mind attracted-show him the value of being able to use the pillow both indoor and out. Also that the cover can be easily changed for a new look. (a real bargain)
· The male mind craves variety-Buy lots of pillow covers and change them out frequently
· The male mind can be programmed with the right language-I trust every woman will find the right words of persuasion!
