Country Almanac’s Small Room Decorating Spring issue had an article about MyDesignGuide. The company owners are not designers. Champe Granger and Roger Bouchard are serial renovators, serial entrepreneurs and love a bargain. They needed professional help with a house they were doing, recognized a need for such a service and started My Design Guide.
Here’s how it works. You upload photos. Next, you have a detailed discussion with one of their designers. You’ll receive inspiration boards with virtual mock-ups of your space in about a week. You’ll also receive 3-D custom models of your room including fabric, paint, furniture and accessories along with links to purchase sites. Ongoing support is offered to help you achieve your desired results. The cost varies with the level of services you select.
In the example below, the client wanted something “cozy and colorful” for a bedroom but with “a bit of exotic flair.” She prefered warm tones. After discussion, this is what the designer recommended. Benjamin Moore Fresh Butter for the walls with a high- gloss white trim. She suggested that the combination was elegant and classical and could work with many styles. She used the owner’s existing artwork to be budget-conscious. She added the touch of exotic in damask drapes with a gold medallion print.

Here’s the finished room!
