It is always a pleasure to welcome new interns to Casart. We have met a very diverse and talented group of young men and women. An internship offers invaluable opportunities for students to increase their skill sets, build their confidence, make a connection between the classroom and the real world by putting applications into practice; all experiences which have the potential of securing better entry level positions following graduation. Whether or not an intern is able to receive academic credit for the experience, we provide them with a written evaluation at the completion of the internship and they critique the experience so we can continue to make improvements in the program. Because we are a virtual company without a real storefront, our interns enjoy a great degree of flexibility in performing their duties, working from their laptop wherever it is comfortable for them. They receive hands-on experience in communications and marketing. They do research, write press releases, help draft newsletters, write blog posts and participate in social media platforms. Our interns have all come to us with a strong background in volunteerism and we try to reinforce those efforts, too. Right now, Libby Langdon has introduced her collection for Casart at the Holiday House Hamptons showhouse. Proceeds will benefit The Breast Cancer Research Foundation and we are busy promoting the event. It opened in Bridgehampton June 23 and will run through July 21st, so if you are in the area, be sure to visit. 22 top designers will have their designs shown in this 7,000 plus square foot new home.
Our summer intern is Alexandra Hickey. Alex, from Berkeley, California, will enter her sophomore year in the fall at American University with a major in Public Communications and a minor in Marketing. In addition to her academic studies, Alex finds time for numerous volunteer opportunities. This summer she will also work as a writing intern at a tutoring center, helping middle and high school students improve their essay writing. And here are some words from Alex!
“I’m so excited to be welcomed into the Casart Coverings community! As a Marketing intern, I am dabbling in many different projects and learning a lot. In addition, I always had a love for interior design, so I am overjoyed to intern for a company in this field!
My guilty pleasure growing up was playing The Sims computer game. However, instead of creating crazy people and having them do ridiculous things, I spent my time building houses. I would create one dream house after another, making sure to cover furniture to wallpaper, and everything in between.

“Interning at Casart Coverings is a dream come true from a Communications and Marketing standpoint, but also for the little designer that still remains inside of me.”
Alex, we are excited to welcome you on board!
If you know someone who is applying for an internship, employment, or for whatever reason, needs a resume, here is the link to an article about what NOT to include in a resume; equally as important as what TO include!
