It’s a new year and that always brings about inspirational change. Even if the change is mostly reflective, it initiates new thought.
One company that we’ve been following almost from inception is Modenus. The brain-child behind this inspirational, interior-design resource for designers and enthusiasts is Veronika Miller. In fact, she is mostly responsible for the momentum it has gained due to her constant engagement across all media platforms. I don’t know quite how she does it and I wish I had the energy she does.
While Veronika was working on getting Modenus up and running she was running her Modenus Blog. We were featured in April 2010 on this blog that is still active and a quick source of bringing new information. Just look at this incredible Concrete Lace designed by Doreen Westphal. I’ve never seen anything like it and I learned about it on Modenus. They were flooded with requests for more information after this post and ran an update.

We first mentioned Modenus on our blog in April and then again in October. When we first listed with Modenus in the summer, we were one of only maybe four other wallcovering type companies. Now there are 25. Their traffic stats and recognition has grown as well. Veronika cites this information to prove the point:
Twitter: nearly 3000 followers of which 80% are designers, decorators and design bloggers.
Site traffic : nearly 15k hits per month and over 40k pageviews something we expect to double by the end of Q1 2011.
Alexa Ranking: Alexa is used to determine Google rankings by most advertisers. We’re ranked approx 161k globally, 41k US wide and 10k in the UK. For a young website that is outstanding and we’ve bypassed some of our competitors a long time ago.
Newsletter : We’ve recently beefed up our mailing list and beginning in January we will be mailing to 7000 designers, architects and consumers.
What all this proves to me is somewhat of a dichotomy. Change can occur with consistency — not doing the same old thing over and over — but being persistent in repeating what is working. Veronika seems to have found the right method for Modenus and they are a good inspirational example for us to follow. We are looking forward to renewing our listing with Modenus and wish them even more success in 2011.
To know what the right action for change might be, one has to do some reflective thinking. At Casart Coverings, we’re looking forward to starting new initiatives, new designs, and new marketing strategies. Be on the look out and be the first to learn by joining our newsletter, subscribing to our blog and or following us on Facebook and Twitter for how these advances will occur in the coming months.
In the meantime, what is your number one New Year’s Resolutions for Inspirational Change?
