Emerald Green is Pantone’s color pick of the year for 2013. What does this mean? It means big marketing hype but it also based on psychology and what this color represents, money (the country is in need of it) and renewal (heralding Spring and hopefully a turn in the economy). Let’s hope as emerald green gets tossed around that some of these things will follow in its wake — at least beyond Christmas, which is the color I immediately associate with this vibrant green along with candy cane red.

Pantone’s version appears to have more blue.
This reminds me of the Emerald City in the Wizard of Oz….

and of course emeralds:

And more recently in the press, Kate Middleton was shown wearing a re-worn emerald colored dress. For some reason, I think brunettes and redheads can pull off wearing this color better than blondes. It’s a hard color to wear.

It’s even harder to pull off in home décor and needs another color to help balance its strong hue, such as black and white or even gold as seen here.

The closest emerald green we have in our temporary, repositionable and reusable wallcovering is our Peacock Damask in Plume Green and Ginger.

and our Quill removable and reusable wallcovering in Plume Green and Turmeric.
More vibrant green color combos can be found in the MoRockAnSoul Collection: Khatamazed, Khatakriss, Khatacross, Arch, Haha and Diamonds in the Ruff to name a few but check out the entire collection to see all the rest. These are available in stair riser/ borders, backsplashes and wallcovering sizes.

As you can see, we have a “wealth” of emerald, now that circles back to my first reference regarding this color.
Keep thinking of what you can do with emerald green and let us know what ideas you come up with.
