Designers Who Use Wallpaper

April 1, 2015

This is no April Fool’s joke ;), we were pleasantly surprised to see the February issue of House Beautiful feature many interior designers who use wallpaper. We thought we’d mention them here as we really appreciate their work.

Philip Gorrivan uses wallpaper fearlessly to create bold, breathtaking rooms that are completely transformed by the wallcovering.

Celerie Kemble uses a wallcovering similar to our Splatter pattern on the ceiling in this interior design project.

We applaud the unusual use on the ceiling.

We’ve had the pleasure of working with Celerie Kemble Interiors when they were considering using our Faux Tortoiseshell for another project.

You can also see a previous post referencing her prediction for flowers in timeless design, which has seemed to come back around — as described in last week’s post.

Meg Braff says this about wallpaper,”Wallpaper is a great solution to lots of challenges…It’s one of the most useful tools we designers have in our bag of tricks, It can bring warmth and detail to an otherwise drab room and transform a cavernous space into an intimate retreat. It’s an extra decorative layer. And you don’t need to paper and entire room or limit yourself to just walls. Put it on the ceiling or behind the shelves of a bookcase for an unexpected moment.” And we would even add, use it on furniture.

Here are some pictorial examples of her uses for wallpaper. She also has a traditional wallpaper line based on vintage patterns.

But we saved her best quote for last, “The possibilities with wallpapers are endless. Use your imagination and have fun with them!” We couldn’t agree more!!

Her soft teal grasscloth wallpaper reminds us of our Raw Silk.

You can read previous posts mentioning Meg Braff’s work here.

This interior designer list is certainly by no means absolute as there are many designers using wallpaper right now, which has really come back in style, especially with hassle-free, peel-and-stick versions as Casart because of convenience and there is no fear or commitment to use.  As we have in the past, we’ll continue to add to the list and mention many other designers who use wallcovering.

In the meantime, we recently saw this article, Top 5 deposit-friendly decorating tips for renters on Right Move blog. Using removable wallpaper was #1 !
