Here’s a great, relatively easy, way to turn a very plain and ordinary vanity mirror into something classic and elegant with very little cost involved. Here’s the before and after.
If you like this look simply follow the directions below. I’m a big fan of “DIY Do It Yourself” projects that don’t take weeks to complete. You can easily do this vanity mirror update in a day. If the projects aren’t too involved and you have most of the tools I say “go for it”.
Tools:
Molding of your choice, miter box, saw, measuring tape, sandpaper, wood stain of your choice, level, caulking gun and liquid nails.
Directions:
- Take individual measurements of the top, bottom and each side of the mirror.
- Choose a molding from a home improvement store and have the nice men cut it for you.
- Miter each end to make a frame. Sand the newly mitered cuts with sandpaper to make smooth.
- Stain each piece of molding with two coats of the stain of your choice. Allow the pieces to dry for several hours.
- Once dried apply liquid nails along the back of each piece of molding and place on top of the mirror to fit tightly against the adjacent mitered pieces.
- Once all pieces of the molding are in place they will support each other and stay in place much like pieces of a puzzle.
The above pictures were from a master bath and I’ll be doing this same upgrade in another bathroom but using a white frame. I’ve done several vanities like this and it really changes the look of the bathroom.
Just like this is an easy project, so is applying Casart Coverings peel and stick wallpaper in just 20 minutes to cover and accent wall and personalize your space.
