I didn’t actually make any resolutions for 2011, but I did promise myself that I would clear off my desk and start with a clean slate. So now I’m down to a folder with Slipcovers odds and ends, so here goes:
To give a blank wall a big personality, layer wallpaper remnants or samples-Natalie Warady, style and market director, Country Living.
Hand-painted French faience tiles on front of refrigerators-Lisa Cohen, Kitchen of the Month, House Beautiful

I could see using a faux panel here.

Extend furnishings up toward a ceiling, which, in turn, will expand the feeling of the room– Mark Gillette, Country Almanac-Small Room Decorating
We have several designs from which to choose to achieve this affect. The faux panels illustrated above, or lattice work or faux padded headboard.

Finally, if you’re into Victoriana, the most traditional look is built using the formula of the tripartite wall: a dado, the lower portion of the wall, is often covered with wainscoting or lincrusta (embossed wallpaper) and topped with a chair rail; the wall fill, which is the major portion, sits atop the chair rail; and at the wall top goes the frieze, which is a border above the picture rail, ranging in depth from 12 to 20 inches- Country Victorian
Now, the desk is cleared!
