The recession may be over but it’s still a good idea to watch how you spend your dollars and try to stick to your decorating budget.
Here are a few tips that may be helpful.
Ways to Stick to Your Decorating Budget
Cabinets
Ready-made traditional cabinets cost less than custom or higher end design.

Appliances
Select mid-grade stainless steel with the same good design features as the more expensive brands.
Window Treatments
Hang panels just at either end or use affordable Roman shades.

Buy local
This can save in shipping costs, especially with heavy items.
Splurge on a Focal Point
One nice accent piece strategically placed or an accent color or wallpaper on one wall or a small area such as an entry or foyer can make a big statement. Casart wallcovering, since it is repositionable and reusable when removed, is the perfect wallcovering for such a project.
Jo Ann of Kandrac Kole Interior Designs wrote in a blog entry about wallpaper, “Personally I love wallcovering in small spaces – powder rooms, laundry rooms, mud rooms, nook offices, etc. These are often small, uninteresting and forgotten spaces so why not make it as dramatic as possible?” She concluded with this observation. “Don’t let the fear of wallpaper removal or the stigma of Grandmother’s wallpaper scare you off! Go for it – paint can only have so much personality!!

But don’t forget a sense of balance and judgment when trying to stick to your decorating budget.

2. Life should sparkle and every house needs some bling.
