It seems quilting is showing up in surprising places from fabric to furniture to accessories to, yes, even shoes!\u00a0 I\u00a0 found quilted platform heels!<\/p>\n

The January\/February Elle Decor <\/a>showed a full page of various quilted objects including flatware, crystal and pillows.\u00a0 Hmm, since we now have pillow covers,<\/a> perhaps that will be our next design.<\/p>\n

The new Saint Hotel in New Orleans uses a quilted pattern in their “living lobby”.<\/p>\n

The process of quilting uses a needle and thread to join two or more layers of material to make a quilt typically using 3 layers: the top fabric or quilt top, batting or insulating material and backing material.\u00a0 The process is repeated across the entire area where quilting is wanted. The stitches can be purely functional or decorative and elaborate. Quilting is done to create bed spreads, art quilt wall hangings, clothing, and a variety of textile products. Quilting can make a project thick, or with dense quilting, can raise one area so that another stands out.\u00a0 Now you know for certain what you already knew!<\/p>\n

Casart<\/a> has used trompe l’ oeil<\/a> to achieve the same results in our faux padded harlequin<\/a> design which was one of our designs when we launched the business in 2009.<\/p>\n

The design is available in 15 colorways.\u00a0 As shown in these two pictures,\u00a0 the direction of the shading can be altered to the right or to the left, depending on installation.<\/p>\n

Quilting is seen in all types of objects in addition to fabric now. Casart has adapted the quilt pattern to our faux padded harlequin design, which we’ve had since we
