Highlighting High Point’s Louisiana Connection. It’s not surprising that Louisiana had a presence at High Point; we do seem to get around!\u00a0 Tara Shaw, a Louisiana connection, was exhibiting and had a terrific location.\u00a0 Although she was very busy, we managed a chat and were able to get a picture.<\/p>\n

Aware that European treasures were becoming increasingly more difficult to find, Tara began work in 2004 to build a reproduction line, which she calls Tara Shaw Maison. She is\u00a0 committed to reproducing European furniture replicating the authentic finishes and hand carvings.\u00a0 This is what sets the Maison line apart from all the others available.<\/p>\n

She had some beautiful things that I had to avert my eyes from to resist temptation.\u00a0 (Like sitting on your hands at an auction!)\u00a0 Surely I could find space for one of these although I’m at the stage of\u00a0 downsizing and consolidating.<\/p>\n

Our Louisiana connection, Bryan Batt was signing his new book, Big,Easy Style <\/em><\/a>at J. Douglas<\/a>.\u00a0 I’m glad I already had my signed copy because my checked bag may already be over weight.<\/p>\n

Speaking of book signings, heads up all you New Orleans readers.\u00a0 There will be one for Mary McDonald’s Interiors: The Allure of Style\u00a0<\/em> at Tara Shaw’s showroom (1240 Camp Street) on November 18th, from 4-7 p.m.<\/p>\n

Baton Rouge designer, Cati Hardy,<\/a> was the lucky winner of the door prize, <\/em>a copy of Libby Langdon’s Small Space Solutions<\/em>,<\/a> at Libby’s presentation on getting published.\u00a0 Libby was signing copies after lunch and I’ll save a funny story about THAT for another post!<\/p>\n

Coastal Living Collection had back copies of the magazine and one had an article with a Louisiana connection about New Orleans jazz artists and where to hear them in the Crescent City.<\/p>\n

French Market Collection<\/a> was a Louisiana connection exhibiting and their warehouse is in Slidell, just east of New Orleans. Their website states: “French Market Collection<\/strong> is a place where time flows seamlessly from past to present; and history is just a click away.”\u00a0 The collection includes furniture, rugs, mirrors and pillows.<\/p>\n

Although it was Casart’s f<\/a>irst visit to Market, all of the above made me feel right at home in High Point!<\/p>\n
