I found the following list of innovative interior products for 2011 pretty inspirational for designs. Although it could be a lot longer, this gives a pretty interesting sampling from a variety of shelter magazines.<\/p>\n

1. Made by Artists<\/h2>\n

The first inspirations come directly from the mouths of interior designers,\u00a0 from the December 2010 – January 2011 issue of House Beautiful<\/a>. <\/em>See the quotes below but the bottom line is that design products for 2011 will be looking toward creativity — expressed in art, color, innovation and renewable resources. I’ve highlighted my favorite quotes, which all apply to Casart Coverings<\/a>, btw, and particularly this combined quote, “Things [made] by local artisans<\/strong>….Art!…for wallpapers.”<\/p>\n

(Casart wallcovering designs are hand-painted by me<\/a>, a DC decorative painter for 16 years and professional artist for 23 years. That’s a lot of experience behind its backing.)<\/p>\n

2. Made with Renewable Resources<\/h2>\n

Making things with renewable resources<\/strong> like this clear, plastic chair from The Fresh Cat Collection by Tom Dixon<\/a> (funky website too) are characteristic of products for 2011.<\/p>\n

(Casart wallcovering is reusable<\/span> season after season<\/a>. It is recyclable vinyl, Class II, Type A, 20 oz, 18 ml – highest standard for residential and commercial use<\/a>. It can also be re-gifted to Habit to Humanity if and when one decides not to use it anymore.)<\/p>\n

3. Whimsical Stands Out for 2011 Products<\/h2>\n

Lighting is going whimsical<\/strong>, airy and as a standout feature<\/strong>, from places like, Ikea<\/a>. As Traditional Home<\/em><\/a> describes, this Maskros pendant is reminiscent of fireworks<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

(OK, this doesn’t directly apply to Casart coverings but shouldn’t we all have a little fireworks in our lives and Casart designs do this for me. Plus that screen from frenchheritage.com reminds me of our Panels in our Architectural Collection<\/a>, that you could use to design a screen of your own)<\/p>\n

4. Faux Wood and Glass<\/h2>\n

Poducts for 2011 have elements of faux <\/strong>wood tile — that’s right, from LeaCeramiche, which I think turns the conception of tile on its head. And, that cake server from Uban-butik is pretty special, I must say. Cutting cake is always hard and this makes it easy.<\/p>\n

5. Not What It Appears — At First<\/h2>\n

Since I mentioned the cake server above, I just have to say that these French Bowls from Geraldine de Beco are pretty clever. I like anything that isn’t what it appears — or that reveals itself with more thought and interaction<\/strong>. You only see the shapes of these bowls when they are filled.<\/p>\n

In Products for 2011 the Mundane Becomes Exciting<\/h2>\n

Innovation makes mundane<\/strong> masking tape exciting<\/strong>, like Japanese washi tape by Ginko Papers.<\/p>\n

(Casart is all about innovation<\/a><\/strong>, as we are seeking to revolutionize the traditional concept of wallpaper by providing a custom and designer alternative that can be repositioned, removed and reused and requires no paste, mess or hassle.)<\/p>\n
