Why We Gravitate to Mod Op-Art Style<\/h2>\n

You may have heard that gray is the new beige, well that’s not gonna work for people who like color.<\/p>\n

After visiting the Art by the Yard<\/em> exhibit at the Textile Museum, which I’ll write about in a subsequent post, I realized when I opened my Elle Decor<\/em> this month that their feature on the Op Art (optical – psychedelic design) trend got its start with earlier pioneers like Lucienne Day. She created “unheard of” and definitely “unseen before” textile patterns in Mid-Century Britain that must have made people fall off their Victorian rockers. Well, as a juxtaposition to neutral gray, the mod, pop-eyed style of op-art is coming back, to cover the other extreme style gamut.<\/p>\n

\"<\/p>\n

Some of these accent pieces above are fun. Here are just a few other examples of this eye-popping style.<\/p>\n

If you want people looking up, go graffiti on the ceiling. This helps avoid those awkward silent lapses in dinner conversation by creating a conversation piece (or straining your neck).<\/p>\n

Don’t forget your car is also a potential place for design.<\/p>\n

And what about those crazy cats, if you have them. This room is a perfect “Pee Wee” playhouse for them with wacky design impact.<\/p>\n

And what about your baby’s room and taking your tots out in style, Tot Trends has the answer.<\/p>\n

But what if you just don’t want any color or can’t decide or want to add your own, belenko creates a coloring-book open-canvas.<\/p>\n

Finally, if you just want to get away from it all and feel like your floating in the trees, this large scale wallpaper, used in boutique hotels, gives just the right kind of optical illusion.
