Have you noticed lately how many lattice designs are appearing in home magazines? We see this is an architectural trend, however, it is worthwhile noting that lattice work has been around for centuries. Unlike the avocado green color that was the raging trend in the 70’s and quickly went out of style, which left homeowners who added oven ranges, appliances and made other large interior changes with this color stuck in a style that might take a while to re-emerge or may never surface again, lattice and other architectural features are classic details that do not go out of style. Rather than let us wow you with lattice, we’d like to Lattice Wall You!<\/em> We’re happy to say that Faux Lattice<\/a> was one of the first temporary wallpaper designs that we offered in 2009 at Casart Coverings.<\/p>\n

Starting with Veranda’s Jan – Feb cover to start the 2019 year<\/a>. That’s a big placement and it happens to show lattice for a Palm Beach Style that is as they state, is “now and forever” — timeless.<\/p>\n

This interior design for a family room by Phoebe Howard<\/a> is light-filled, fun and refreshing. The lattice brings architectural interest but still keeps the palette overall white and bright.<\/p>\n

Veranda explains the use of lattice work in interior design throughout history and the different styles implemented.<\/p>\n

We appreciate that lattice has such a prominent place in art history, as the pages below describe.<\/p>\n

The piece mentions Sara Ruffin Costello<\/a>‘s home, where she “painted the trellises blue and filled the room with plants. Now, walking through is like getting a jolt of Lexapro — it’s a very happy feeling.<\/em>” Sara has such great style with a refreshing sense of humor too.<\/p>\n

Decorative framework doesn’t always have to be white. In fact, we are happy to offer it in many colors and these can always be customized<\/a> to particular paint colors for interior design needs.<\/p>\n

On our trip back to my hometown New Orleans recently, I had the pleasure of meeting Sara. She was working on a presentation and was so generous with her time to fit me in. I showed her several examples of Casart wallcoverings<\/a>, in which she expressed interest in using in a future project. Since she was working on a commercial project at the time, I explained because Casart wallcovering is commercial grade<\/a> it is the highest quality, self-adhesive wallcovering that meets the criteria to be used in commercial as well as residential interiors. Since they are 52″ wide, they can be easily installed with less time than traditional 21″ – 27″ wide wallpaper. They are also practical, in that they can be removed whenever one wants a change.<\/p>\n

We’re excited to see this style making a comeback. It coordinates with so many other styles, like Chinoiserie<\/a> and happily fits with the Maximalist style that encourages each of us to “express our stuff!<\/em>” This makes us think of dancing merrily with interior design choices.
