We’re all about orange decorating this time of year. How easy it is to get in the Autumn spirit by just adding a few pumpkins outside your door, but what about when those ghosts and goblins come a’calling (and we’re not talking about the relatives for the upcoming holidays — unless you’d like to ;)?<\/p>\n

You might want your interior decor to reflect your post-Halloween and fall-color sensibility without necessarily having to change it but at least having the option to do so if you like. Luckily, we have the solution! (More on this below.)*<\/p>\n

Interior designers participating in this year’s DC Design House, which benefits Children’s Hospital, show how pops of color can be used in multiple ways: throughout a space, with accessories, and in unusual combinations. Jennifer Sergent’s DC by Design<\/a> post does a great job of highlighting more designers than we show here with credit to using her images.<\/p>\n

Susan Nelson and Todd Martz of Home on Cameron<\/a> designed the Idealized Family Room<\/em> with an abundance of antiques and brightly-patterned, yellow wallpaper throughout, which makes the room family-friendly and sophisticated with welcoming appeal.<\/p>\n

Several designers, such as Kelley Proxmire<\/a>, Susan Jamieson<\/a>, and Lorna Gross<\/a>, use pops of blue to showcase color. This helps to enliven the interiors, especially when some had dark wood paneling.<\/p>\n

Perhaps Marika Meyer<\/a> takes creative-accessory-color-pop to a whole new level with her clever use of framed Herm\u00e9s scarves.<\/p>\n

Continuing with pops of color, here are some inspirational ways to use orange\/ pumpkin beyond the porch — to get the fall look of this cozy, fire-burning, colored-leaf season — yet, still keeping it bold, modern and hip.<\/p>\n

Granted, this would be a major investment and we’re not suggesting it for a quick, easy solution but something about the orange color in a kitchen and especially on these Poggenpohl-<\/a>type (guessing) cabinets below makes us happy.<\/p>\n

If you want to interject a little black, being so close to Halloween, we were very taken with this write-on-chalk-board, pendant light called Chalkboard Peter<\/em> by John Beck Paper and Steel<\/a> and featured in House Beautiful<\/a>. What a clever concept!<\/p>\n

Orange actually works well as a complement and standout accent color when paired with black as seen in these two examples on\u00a0 Houzz from Sheila Schmitz<\/a>‘s post, Orange and Black: Can Halloween Colors be Glam?<\/em> Yes, I think they can.<\/p>\n

Now, after all this vibrant orange and pops of color, sometimes it’s just nice to look up and rest your eyes on a peaceful lacquered cerulean blue ceiling, as seen in the bedroom by Wilder Design\/Build<\/a>. We agree with Jennifer Sergent, it is one of the most serene rooms.<\/p>\n
