My name is Wintana Kiflu and I am one of the new Marketing Interns for Casart Coverings. I am a senior at T.C. Williams High School and will be attending Howard University after graduating. I plan on majoring in Accounting, with a focus in Forensic Accounting, and my minor is\u00a0in Interior Design. Since it’s almost time to make one of the biggest changes in my life (a.k.a- College) and being forced to mature, kind of, I figured I might as well make some major changes and while I\u2019m at it, take you guys along for the ride. That is why this blog post is entirely dedicated to some tricks and tips, along with some DIYs to “mature your space.”<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Consider mixing light and dark colors.<\/strong> While using bright colors can give the room a warm and inviting feel, they can also overwhelm a room and even make a room seem a little childish. But a mix of light and dark colors can actually make the room feel more elegant and put together. In other words, more mature.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    For example, take a look at this dining room\/ living area by <\/span>Danielle Colding<\/span><\/a> and notice how the mix of dark and light colors creates a beautiful look. <\/span><\/p>\n

    It is clear that dark and light colors and perfect for each other. And if done right, it can complement a room and completely transform it.     2.\u00a0Embrace bringing the outside into your home.<\/strong> In other words, lots and lots of plants. Not only do plants add life to a home, but they also give the illusion maturity (people tend to think you are mature enough to keep the plant alive).<\/p>\n

    A perfect way to incorporate plants into your home while still remaining trendy is through terrariums. <\/span><\/p>\n

    And for those of us who can\u2019t manage to keep any plants alive, here are <\/span>15 Faux Plant Projects<\/span><\/a> to not only help bring life to your space, but that will also survive your maturation process.<\/span><\/p>\n

    \"Adorable<\/p>\n

    A perfect example is this beautifully adorable paper succulent guaranteed to last even longer than the real succulents do. <\/span><\/p>\n

    3. Mix & Match patterns, and metals- carefully!<\/strong> The right combination of different\u00a0elements can make or break your home. If executed well, the different elements should contrast with one another in such a way that exudes purpose and sophistication. If done haphazardly, it could cause the home to look cluttered and disorganized. Luckily, we here at Casart Coverings are here to help!<\/p>\n

    4. Don\u2019t forget about the biggest canvas in your home– your walls!<\/strong> Since your maturing is an ongoing process, it might be a good idea to use some temporary and easy decorations that can be exchanged in the future.<\/p>\n

    A simple way to do this is through some wall hangings. To elevate your space, here is a blog post by the infamous female blogger Mr.Kate, even equipped with a video, dedicated to showing you how to <\/span>Gallery Wall in 3 Ways<\/span><\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n
