Have you noticed a mural on a wall or more precisely, all the murals lately featured not only in interior design magazines, but also in catalogs?<\/p>\n

There is an ongoing trend we see to have the background focus be on murals.<\/p>\n

One might be inclined to ask, “Mural mural on the wall…who’s the fairest of them all?” But we think they are all lovely!<\/p>\n

We’re glad to see this coming back in fashion because it certainly personalizes a room, adds interest and in many respects opens up and enlarges the room by making the walls visually disappear.<\/p>\n

As noted in quotes from this recent Telegraph article<\/a>, the mural is coming back in style:<\/p>\n

“The intricate artistry of classical stories painted on to walls is not only to be found in Italian villas, but is creeping back into modern interior design in luxury homes, replacing the slick, minimalist look….Luxury home owners are increasingly taking interior design to the next level by decorating the ceiling, says Charlie Bubear, head of Chelsea for Savills…Another emerging historical trend is a taste for silk Chinoiserie wallpapers. \u201cThey can take hundreds of hours to create, a painstaking and detailed process, but they leave a lasting impression,\u201d says Bubear…These luxury tastes are starting to feed into the mainstream interiors…Companies are selling copies of hand-painted murals printed on to canvas or wallpaper<\/strong>.<\/em>“<\/p>\n

This is right up our alley and what Casart Coverings specializing in<\/a>!<\/p>\n

Interior designer Lisa Fine<\/a> uses another deGournay mural in one of her rooms that picks up on Indian, Persian and Turkish influence. This lends a romantic and exotic ambiance.<\/p>\n

High-quality, hand painted murals have never really gone out of style but we’re witnessing a resurgence in this type of elaborate decoration with the focus on hand-painting, fine art and quality, as deGournay has always embodied.<\/p>\n

Sophie Donelson’s editorial quote gives a good summation as to why this may be occurring,”More than any other place, your home should help you feel your truest self. If you wake up surrounded by beauty, you’ll carry that feeling of joy and confidence all day long..If your own home can’t make you feel gorgeous, what place will?<\/em>“<\/p>\n

A mural gives the most custom, personalized detail and attention to any room. It lends character and can express your style through imagery — more than blank, solid or even walls painted in a decorative finish can do on their own. A mural is like the icing on a wall cake and the Godiva of decoration. A mural can upgrade a room to an upscale level of sophistication<\/p>\n

Harry Heissman<\/a> also uses a mural in the entryway to make a visual impact with hand-painted faux agate, which is gorgeous!<\/p>\n

Murals don’t always have to be scenic. Although this faux agate is a decorative finish, because it is used on one main focal wall gives it the attention and visual drama it deserves.<\/p>\n

The use of murals doesn’t stop here; you’ll see them in ads, like this one from Horchow.<\/p>\n

And Frontgate recently used a wonderful monochromatic, sepia mural on their cover and inside layout. Love it!! The mural makes the furnishings pop and seem ultra lush.<\/p>\n
