The designs include John Tenniel’s\u00a0beautiful illustrations from the classic novels, incorporating the beloved characters such as Alice, Cheshire Cat, the White Rabbit and more.<\/p>\n

These are perfect for a child’s\u00a0room, but of course we hope adults love them as well, just as the novels are adored by all ages.<\/p>\n

The two novels, Alice\u2019s Adventures in Wonderland <\/em>and Through the Looking-Glass<\/em>, written by Charles Lutwidge Dodgson aka Lewis Carroll in the mid to late 1800s, are considered some of the most popular children\u2019s books of all time. They are part of the literary nonsense genre, in which\u00a0logic is mixed with illusion.<\/p>\n

Through the Looking-Glass –\u00a0<\/em>published 1871<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Despite the novels’ fictional nature, the story behind the books is\u00a0non-fictional. Alice was in fact real. The author,\u00a0Dodgson,\u00a0became acquainted\u00a0with the Liddell family when they moved to Oxford England in 1856. The youngest and most interesting of the Liddell family was Alice.<\/p>\n

One day while\u00a0boating on the Isis with Alice and two of her sisters, Dodgson told a story about an adventurous girl named Alice who fell down a rabbit hole, only to discover\u00a0another unbelievable\u00a0world. The girls were so fascinated by the story that Dodgson began\u00a0to write more. He later gave the\u00a0manuscript to his friend, author George Macdonald, who encouraged him to find a publisher after showing it to his children.<\/p>\n

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland\u00a0<\/em>\u00a0was published in 1865 by Macmillan with illustrations by John\u00a0Tenniel. Years later Through the Looking-Glass\u00a0<\/i>followed. By the end of the 19th century the two novels had become extremely popular, and would eventually become known as classics.<\/p>\n

As the Alice in Wonderland story has become a classic over the years, it has played a prominent\u00a0role in our pop-culture through endless adaptations of the novels, movies, music and design.\u00a0The tale is truly timeless.<\/p>\n

When thinking about Alice in Wonderland, one cannot help but envision Disney’s take on it. This 1951 animated adaptation is the most well-known and a\u00a0children’s favorite.

\u00a0Or more recently Tim Burton’s eerie adaptation from 2010.<\/p>\n

And how\u00a0could we forget about The Beatles? Their 1968 hit “I Am the Walrus” references\u00a0Dodgson’s walrus in\u00a0the poem “The Walrus and the Carpenter” from\u00a0Through the Looking-Glass.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

The design world has definitely embraced\u00a0its inner Alice as well.<\/p>\n
