If so you can probably attest to the multiple emails a day you receive that inundate you inbox. I admit I had gotten to the point of just deleting but then I decided to at least start looking at the subjects. This one on a new profile artist got my attention and I’m glad it did.<\/p>\n
Nadine Kalachnikoff and her butterfly artwork was profiled. I was not familiar with her and I really enjoy her work. Of course I am kinda obsessed with butterflies and their miraculous transformation and therein their symbolism for rebirth. If you haven’t noticed, we use the majestic Blue Morpho in our logo to represent the transformative change Casart wallcoverings can bring to your space.<\/p>\n

After her lovely butterfly artwork started selling out on One Kings Lane, I was even more intrigued to learn about this talented artist.<\/p>\n

Nadine Kalachnikoff grew up in New York with parents who were Russian and Spanish and both exiled from their native countries. She seemed to be destined to become an artist, having grown up with her parents’ circle of friends like Dal\u00ed, Warhol, Halston, Hemingway, Ava Gardner, Marlon Brando among many artists in various fields. Lars Bolander, her husband, is a well-known Swedish interior designer. She and her husband first opened an antique showroom in East Hampton, NY and presently, there are two Lars Bolander Showrooms, in NYC and one in West Palm Beach. Their two sons, Howard, who is a chef at Gramercy Tavern in NYC and Christopher, who runs the NY showroom at the Fine Arts Building, are both accomplished in their own right. In 2012 she started her first butterfly collage out of her fascination with butterflies. I love what she says on her site about them. “Many believe the butterfly is a reminder to make changes when opportunities arise<\/em>.” I can relate to doing something similar as I added to my career path with the start of my company.<\/p>\n She creates her spirited butterfly collages using hand painted feathers. No “real” butterflies are actually used but they all look real. She amasses them in color and movement under clear acrylic covers as if they are captured while in flight and protected and preserved for our enjoyment.<\/p>\n These are just a few examples from her website via Nadine Kalachnikoff Collection. <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Please visit her site to view more.
