{"id":10564,"date":"2013-04-25T07:00:21","date_gmt":"2013-04-25T11:00:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.casartcoverings.com\/casartblog\/?p=10564"},"modified":"2025-09-29T13:15:48","modified_gmt":"2025-09-29T17:15:48","slug":"house-hunting-hints","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.casartcoverings.com\/casartblog\/house-hunting-hints\/","title":{"rendered":"House Hunting Hints"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Realtors say this is the best time of year to put your house on the market and go house hunting.\u00a0 Families want to get settled well before the school year begins.\u00a0 <a title=\"HGTV magazine\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hgtv.com\/hgtv-magazine\/package\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">HGTV magazine <\/a>had lots of tips that both buyers and sellers should note.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>another house on the block looks uncared for-could detract from the curb appeal of yours.\u00a0 Ideally, all houses should look equally well-maintained<\/li>\n<li>too close to a school-nice to be near, but not next door or across the street since there will be constant traffic<\/li>\n<li>smelly basement-may mean moisture and mold issues<\/li>\n<li>buckling wooden floors-can happen with extreme temperature changes or installed incorrectly on top of a cement foundation<\/li>\n<li>cracks around a door&#8217;s edge-may indicate house settling and potential structural issue<\/li>\n<li>wet yard although hasn&#8217;t rained recently-possible drainage problem or a leak.\u00a0 Check under the house, too.<\/li>\n<li>too many scented candles lit or potpourri is overwhelming-may only be to hide fresh paint or floor staining but could be masking pet urine or smoke.\u00a0 Odors can seep into floors.<\/li>\n<li>don&#8217;t forget the roof-patches of the roof looking worn may call for a new roof<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On a positive note, if you are selling your home, make a check list of the above and know there are often simple remedies that appeal to house hunters.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Check the curb appeal.\u00a0 Trimming vegetation, mowing and raking along with adding some bright annuals may be all you need.<\/li>\n<li>Freshen exterior and interior paint where necessary, make sure all plumbing is working, and don&#8217;t forget to clean the windows!<\/li>\n<li>Put away all personal items and declutter.\u00a0 Remember, people WILL open cabinets and closets!
